Press release

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) and IT service company CGI invite higher education students to a hackathon to envision the future of digital identity services.

At this hackathon, students get to come up with ideas for future digital services and thus participate in developing the society’s digital services. At the end of October, we will hold an intensive, inspiring and educational hackathon, where participants brainstorm new types of digital identity services that facilitate people's everyday lives and have an impact on society.

How does a hackathon work?

The hackathon is a two-day event during which participants develop service ideas with the support of experts from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency and CGI. At the same time, the participants will learn about developing services and teamwork, get to network and present their competence to potential future employers, and make their voice heard in the effort to build Finland’s future. In addition, a cash prize of EUR 5,000 is distributed among the best-performing 1-3 teams at the discretion of the jury. The main language of the hackathon is English.

Purpose of the hackathon

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency promotes the digitalisation of society, secures access to data and provides services for different life events, such as through supporting citizens' interaction with public administration. CGI, on the other hand, develops and maintains public administration's digital services as a partner of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. The Digital and Population Data Services Agency and CGI now also invite students to develop digital services that facilitate everyday life.
