Test the use of a certificate
In the certificates test service, you may test your certificate and card reader and try out the use of an electronic signature.
Before testing the certificates, the card reader and the card reader software must be installed to the workstation. Please note that even though the service in question is a test service, you must enter the correct PIN codes.
The certificates test service can be used with all certificate cards issued by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
Instructions for use of test service
How to test authentication
Certificates are tested in the Test authentication section of the test service. Currently, authentication can be tested only on the Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers.
- Place your card in the card reader and wait for the card reader software to read the certificates on the card.
- Click the Authenticate button. The Select certificate window opens, in which the authentication certificate of your certificate card has been selected. Click OK.
- Enter the basic PIN (PIN1) in the window and click OK.
- If your authentication was successful, you will receive a notification saying “Authentication successful, and the certificate card is working correctly”.
- In addition, you will see the basic information of your certificate card and the more detailed technical information of the certificate.
- In the end, clear the browser cache if you are using a shared computer.
How to test the use of electronic signatures
The use of electronic signatures can be tested in the Test signature section of the test service. Testing a signature will not necessarily work correctly if your browser is Internet Explorer or if you use a third-party card reader software.
- Place your card in the card reader and wait for the card reader software to read the certificates on the card.
- Enter a text of your choice for signing, for example, “test”.
- Click the Sign text button. A window opens in which the signature certificate of your certificate card has been selected. Click OK.
- In the window that opens, enter the signature PIN (PIN2) of your card in the field provided. Click OK.
- If the signature was successful, you will receive a notification saying "Text successfully signed.” In addition, you will see the details of your signature in a technical form.
- In the end, clear the browser cache if you are using a shared computer.
