Property inventory at the start of guardianship
This page is intended for the guardian of an adult client. Read on a different page how to make a property inventory as the guardian of a minor or under a continuing power of attorney.
Once you have been appointed the guardian for your client, the authority will supervise your actions. Your first task is to draw up an inventory of your client's assets and liabilities. Please submit it to us within three months of the start of your assignment.
Please note that we cannot process the property inventories of persons living in Åland. Please send them to the State Department of Åland.
Key concepts
Person on whose behalf the guardian acts.
A person assigned to manage their client’s financial and property affairs.
An inventory in which the guardian reports the client's property and debts on the commencement date of our supervision.
The statement submitted to us by the guardian each calendar year on how the client's property has been managed.
When the guardianship ends, the guardian will provide us with an account of the management of the assets for the period for which the annual statement has not been issued.
Do the following
1. Find out about your granter's property on the start date of your guardianship.
You have to itemise all your granter's assets and liabilities and submit the information to us.
2. Make a property inventory in the guardianship service.
You can prepare and send the property inventory electronically directly in the guardianship service. The service will guide you with each step. If you wish, you can save the property inventory as incomplete and complete it later.
3. Submit the property inventory and its attachments to us within three months from the start of your guardianship duties.
Are you unable to attend to the matter online?
You can also prepare a property inventory by filling in a form and submitting the documents to us on paper.
