Certificates and cards for social welfare and healthcare service providers
The social welfare and healthcare certificate services maintained by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency provide support for Kanta services, which facilitates the reliable authentication of social welfare and healthcare professionals as well as electronic signatures in patient documents and prescriptions. Strong electronic authentication is a precondition for realising data protection and information security in national social welfare and healthcare information system services.
The Digital and Population Data Services Agency grants smart cards and certificates intended for use by social welfare and healthcare organisations. Smart cards for social welfare and healthcare service providers include:
- ID card for regulated social welfare and healthcare professionals
- ID cards for non-regulated workers
- ID cards for non-clinical staff
- replacement card
- test card, which is suited for the testing of various technical functionalities
The Population Register Centre also produces the server certificates needed by service providers and pharmacies as well as their IT service providers for the use of Kanta Services.
The Vartti order and administration system is intended for the registration, ordering, producing and life-cycle management of social welfare and healthcare smart cards and smart card certificates and the temporary certificates created for them. Vartti can be used only by registrants trained by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. Vartti requires separate access rights.
