Newly coined surnames
Before we can approve newly coined surnames, we must inform the general public of them.
A newly coined surname is a surname that according to the Population Information System is currently not used by a person who is alive. We publish the newly coined surnames we have approved on this website. It is possible to submit an objection to a newly coined surname that someone has applied for.
If you consider that the surname applied for would violate your right to the name, you can submit an objection to the matter to us. The objection must be submitted in writing within 30 days from the date on which information on the proposed newly coined surname was published. However, we can take into consideration an objection that has been submitted after the deadline if we have not yet made a decision on the matter.
