Who can act on behalf of an estate of a deceased person in MyTax in year 2027?
An estate of a deceased person can ensure smooth and secure use of MyTax services with Suomi.fi e-Authorizations. The service automatically verifies who are entitled to manage the estate’s affairs. The authorisation to use MyTax services on the estate’s behalf may be based on a person’s role in the service background register or a mandate granted in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.
The shareholders of the estate can use MyTax automatically – the person reporting the estate has broader access rights
Once the register of estate shareholders has been established, the shareholders will be notified of it via Suomi.fi Messages. After this, they can log in to MyTax and view the information of the estate.
Separate mandates are not needed.
Suomi.fi e-Authorizations verifies the rights of use from the register of estate shareholders, the Register of Guardianship Affairs, and the demographic data system. Therefore, MyTax may also be used by an attorney or trustee of an estate shareholder or a guardian of an underage shareholder.
All shareholders can view the information, but the person reporting the estate can edit the shareholder and asset information. If new shareholders are added to the estate, they will have the right to use MyTax as soon as their information has been saved.
The person reporting the estate may authorise others to use MyTax
The person reporting the estate may also authorise a law firm, bank, or funeral parlour to file the inventory of the estate and submit the inheritance tax returns in MyTax. The party managing the affairs of the estate may also submit a mandate request to the estate in Suomi.fi. Mandates can also be granted without online banking IDs or a mobile certificate.
Mandates can be granted in three ways:
- By logging in to the Suomi.fi service and granting a mandate.
- By accepting a mandate request submitted by a professional to the estate either in Suomi.fi or at a service location of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
- By sending a signed mandate application to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
A shareholder of the estate may also authorise their own representative to access the estate’s information in MyTax.
