Civil marriage ceremonies in Helsinki move to Pasila – first available date 2 June attracts couples

From now on, civil marriage ceremonies at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency in Helsinki will be organised in Pasila. The Agency’s service location in Helsinki was relocated from Sörnäinen to Pasila on 1 June 2026, and as a result of this change, marriage ceremonies also moved to the new premises.

The first day for marriage ceremonies in Pasila is Tuesday 2 June 2026. The date (2/6/26), which interests many couples. All the appointments for marriage ceremonies on that day have been booked and it is estimated that 22 couples will get married. 

“It’s wonderful that the first marriage ceremonies in the new premises take place on a special day like this. For many couples, the date is an important part of the celebration,” says Chief Specialist Tanja Tams from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

More than one half of couples choose a civil ceremony 

Marriage has remained popular over the past few years. Annually, more than one half of all couples getting married choose a civil marriage ceremony. Every year, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency marries thousands of couples across Finland, and therefore the agency is also called the "Love Agency".  

Special dates are also interest couples. For example, previous dates containing symmetrical sequences and series of numbers have been popular dates for marriage ceremonies. 

In addition to a marriage ceremony in the Agency's premises, it is possible to enquire whether the officiator can perform the ceremony in a place of the couple's choice. 

“Although we cannot always realise these wishes, we often can. The Agency has married people in very different places on land, at sea and in the air,” Tams explains.

Pasila is a good venue for marriage ceremonies 

The Pasila office centre provides modern and accessible facilities for civil marriage ceremonies. It is easy to reach the premises from different parts of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area as well as on public transport from further away. 

“We want to offer a smoothly running festive occasion to all couples getting married. The new premises in Pasila support this goal well,” Tams says. 

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency serves couples by appointment. The appointment for the marriage ceremony can be booked on the dvv.fi website
