Press release

Starting October, our telephone service for private customers and organisations will be open on Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 15:00. You can call the national service numbers to ask for advice, order certificates, or book an appointment at a service location. The chat service for guardianship matters will also have longer service hours, from 9:00 to 15:00 on weekdays.

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency wants to respond to customer demand by expanding the opening hours of the telephone service for private customers to 15:00 on weekdays. As an experiment, the Monday service hours were already expanded by three hours during the summer. The experiment showed that in addition to e-services, the phone is an important service channel for our customers, and the expansion of opening hours helped reduce waiting times on the other days. The legislative reform concerning the opening hours of agencies states, among other things, that the opening hours of agencies must reflect the needs of the customers and that the availability of the authorities by phone must be secured. The customer service for organisations by phone is also open an hour earlier on weekdays, starting at 9:00.

"With our longer service hours, we can provide smoother service than before," says Heidi Rantatulkkila, Head of the Individual Customers Unit. "We strive to make our services easy to use. More and more services will be provided online, but by phone, we are able to serve those who are not as comfortable with using our e-services."

Services are easily accessible online, service-specific help is available by telephone

You can take care of most agency-related matters independently online at any time. For example, you can easily order a life certificate or residence certificate from the Certificates e-service  Alternatively, you can order the certificates by phone during the day.
Most matters do not require you to visit one of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency's service locations. In matters requiring a visit , we recommend making an appointment in advance either online or by calling the telephone number of the service in question.
To get help in using the Digital and Population Data Services Agency's services, you can show up at one of our service locations around Finland and wait in line for your turn. The service locations are also there to accept documents you need to deliver to the agency. To get service-specific advice, you can call one of the 13 national service numbers. For example, if you want to know more about appointing a guardian or confirming a power of attorney, you can contact the Guardianship service. The chat service for guardianship matters will also have longer service hours, between 9:00 and 15:00 on weekdays.
