Email notifications sent to end users of Suomi.fi Messages will change from 2 December 2024 onward

Publication date 6.11.2024 9.16
Press release

Suomi.fi Messages will send an email notification to the end users of the service whenever a new message arrives in Suomi.fi Messages. The appearance and structure of these email notifications will change from 2 December 2024 onward. Please note that your customer service may also receive questions about the new appearance of emails from end users.

In the future, all email notifications of new messages will have uniform standard content.
The change does not apply to reminders of unread messages sent to end users. It is not possible to edit the content of these messages.

How will the content of the email notifications change?

In the future, the default subject of notifications will always be “New message in Suomi.fi Messages.”

The default content of the message for the email notification sent by Suomi.fi Messages is shown in the figure below.

Can I change the default content?

Senders using a WS or REST API can add their own custom content to email notifications as follows:

  • Subject: The subject line will always automatically start with “Suomi.fi Messages:”. This standard opening is followed by the subject line defined by the organisation.
  • Notification text: You can add up to 1000 characters of custom content to the default notification template.

Read more detailed instructions for customising the notification on the Suomi.fi for Service Developers website >>

If you do not customise the notification, the recipient will always receive the standard notification shown above.
