Digital and Population Data Services Agency is testing extended service hours in Lahti and Lappeenranta
In response to our customers’ wishes, we are testing extended service hours in Lahti and Lappeenranta.
From 5 September to 12 December 2023, our walk-in services in these cities will also be available on Tuesdays in even-numbered weeks between 4 pm and 6 pm.
During the extended service hours, staff is on hand to provide advice as well as assistance for completing forms and booking appointments. You can also initiate matters and submit documents.
The extended service hours are introduced at the joint service points on a test basis and the experiment will continue until the end of 2023.
We recommend that you book an appointment in advance
Only a small number of matters require a visit to any of our service locations as you can also manage matters electronically or by phone. If the matter requires a meeting with an official at any of our service locations, you should always book an appointment through our appointment system. This way, you are able to manage your matters more easily without having to wait unnecessarily.
In Lahti and Lappeenranta, services are available by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9 am and 4 pm. You can book an appointment to manage matters that require a visit to any of our service locations.

Walk-in services
If you are coming to the service point to manage your matters without an appointment, be prepared to wait for your turn. Until the end of 2023, we are testing extended service hours in Lahti and Lappeenranta so that you can also manage your matters on Tuesday afternoons in even-numbered weeks.
Walk-in services are available in Lahti from 5 September to 12 December 2023 as follows:
- Tuesdays in even-numbered weeks between 4 pm and 6 pm
- on following days: 5 and 19 September, 3, 17 and 31 October, 14 and 28 November, and 12 December
- Wednesdays between 9 am and 12 noon
- Fridays between 9 am and 12 noon
Walk-in services are available in Lappeenranta from 5 September to 12 December 2023 as follows:
- Tuesdays between 9 am and 12 noon, and between 4 pm and 6 pm (afternoon service is only available in even-numbered weeks)
- The afternoon services are available on following days: 5 and 19 September, 3, 17 and 31 October, 14 and 28 November, and 12 December
- Fridays between 9 am and 12 noon
At joint service points, staff is on hand to provide general advice as well as assistance for booking appointments. You can also submit forms and documents when the customer services of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency are closed. You can manage these matters at joint service points in Lahti and Lappeenranta on weekdays between 8 am and 4.15 pm and on Tuesdays between 8 am and 6 pm. The extended hours will be available until December.
The extended service hours are introduced as a joint central government experiment and they are based on a survey carried out in 2021. According to the survey findings, citizens would also like to manage matters after 4 pm but not so much at weekends. Decisions on the extended service hours and the future of the general advisory services will be made on the basis of the result of the experiment.
