Changes to Suomi.fi e-Authorizations: Easier management of financial affairs for persons under guardianship and who have granted a continuing power of attorney

Publication date 1.10.2025 8.14
Type:Press release

Private guardians and attorneys will now be able to grant new mandates to manage client’s or assignor’s financial affairs and to view and invalidate previously granted mandates in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.

Guardians and attorneys are no longer required to apply for a mandate to manage financial affairs

Until now, invalidating mandates or granting new mandates has required a separate mandate application submitted to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
Private guardians and attorneys can now manage mandates on their own in the Suomi.fi Service. Attorneys and guardians are directed to the self-service when they begin to file a mandate application.

Faster and smoother transactions

The Suomi.fi e-Authorizations reform clarifies mandate management and makes managing the client’s or assignor's affairs faster and smoother.
Currently, private guardians or attorneys may:

  • Examine who the client or assignor has granted a mandate to manage financial affairs.
  • Invalidate mandates to manage financial affairs.
  • Grant new mandates to manage financial affairs on behalf of the client or assignor.
  • Approve mandate requests sent by others to manage the client’s or assignor's financial affairs

The assignor is responsible for what their assignees do with the mandates granted to them.

Changes made in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations will take effect immediately. Mandates can be managed within the competence granted by the guardianship decision or the continuing power of attorney. However, this change does not apply to other personal mandates, such as for managing health and social affairs.
