Suomi.fi: 2022 saw growth especially in e-Authorizations and Messages

In 2022, 49 million on-behalf transactions were made in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, which means that the number of mandate queries has grown by nearly 80% since 2021. The number of end users in Suomi.fi Messages increased by more than 25% and is now close to reaching one million.

The use of the Suomi.fi e-Identification service stabilised after rapid growth during the coronavirus pandemic. The number of organisations that have joined the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer increased by more than 20%. The Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue was joined by 119 new organisations in 2022. 

e-Authorizations: Mandates maintained an upward trend in 2022 

  • At the end of 2022, a total of 41.5 million mandates had been stored in the authorisation register, which means that the cumulative number of mandates granted since 2021 increased by almost 30%. 
  • There were 36 million valid mandates at the end of 2022. 
  •  A total of 7,000 mandates were granted through the assisted authorisation service, which became available at the end of the year, and the number is expected to grow strongly in the coming years. Assisted authorisation is an option if a person cannot use strong identification. 
  • At the end of 2022, a total of 250,000 people and 570,000 companies or other organisations had granted mandates. 

Messages sent via the Messages service increased by 80% 

  • Nearly 960,000 people had given their consent to receiving messages from authorities in Suomi.fi Messages by the end of 2022. The growth from 2022 is over 25%. 
  • In 2022, different authorities sent nearly 18 million electronic messages via Suomi.fi Messages, with an 80% increase since 2021. 

Identification event numbers are stabilizing

  • The total number of Suomi.fi e-Identification events was approximately 197 million in 2021. 
  • eIDAS identification tokens granted by other EU countries were used for identification in the Suomi.fi e-Identification service more than 27,000 times. The number of eIDAS events increased about 9% since 2021. 

Online service reformed its content production model 

  • In 2022, the Suomi.fi Web Service had 11.1 million visits (compared to 11.4 million visits in 2021). 
  • Four new guides (Guardianship, Unemployment, Work in Finland, Company’s financial difficulties) were published in the Suomi.fi Web Service in 2022, implemented using the Suomi.fi content cooperation model with extensive stakeholder networks. The Suomi.fi Web Service and all of its guides make use of the services described in the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue.

Wellbeing services counties moved comprehensively to the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue

  • The Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue contains descriptions of 804 different organisations. 
  • A total of 1195 organisations have joined the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue, but not all of them have described their services yet. 
  • 119 new organisations joined in 2022. 
  • By the end of the year, a total of 25,700 services and 52,300 service channels had been described in the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue. 
  • Wellbeing services counties published a total of 12,800 pieces of content in the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue.   

Data Exchange Layer had a good, steady year 

  • The Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer was joined by 40 new organisations in 2022. This amounts to a 20% growth from 2021.
  • All in all, 224 organisations had joined the Data Exchange Layer by the end of 2022. 
  • There are 573 information systems that organisations have connected to the Data Exchange Layer. 
  • Organisations offered 324 different services to other organisations through the information systems connected to the Data Exchange Layer.
