Guardians and certain persons close to a child can now check the details of a joint custody agreement in the Suomi.fi Web Service
In the Suomi.fi Web Service's Your data register, guardians can now check the data stored in the Population Information System concerning the division of duties between guardians. Persons who have a right to receive information on a child's affairs in addition to the guardians can also see their right of access to information in their data.
The data will be displayed in the register if a guardian's rights have been restricted and if the joint custody agreement has been submitted after November 2020. From that point onwards, joint custody agreements have been entered into the Population Information System in an encoded format. The aim was to make it easier for a guardian to act on behalf of their child electronically, as the data can be used in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, for example.
What information can you see in the register?
Each guardian can see the number of the child's guardians in the service, that is, whether the child's affairs are decided together with other guardians.
If a guardian's rights are not restricted, only a notice of the guardianship is displayed in the Suomi.fi register. If a guardian does not have all the rights, the guardian is shown the affairs in which the guardian has a right to make decisions concerning their child.
If a child's information can be viewed by someone other than the guardian, such as a grandparent or another person close to the child, these rights of access to information are always shown in their own data.
Ability to electronically check information reduces customer inquiries
When information can be seen electronically in the Suomi.fi register, guardians and persons with a right of access to information can ensure that the details of a custody agreement are stored in the Population Information System and are available as agreed to other organisations, such as schools and health and social services.
Encoded information in a joint custody agreement concerns the following matters related to a child's custody:
- Right of access to information
- All social and health services
- Early childhood education and care, teaching and education
- Right to make decisions
- Names
- Passport and other travel documents
- All social and health services
- Place of residence
- Early childhood education and care, teaching and education
- Membership in a religious community
- Citizenship
