Press release

Most forest, agriculture and real estate partnerships can grant mandates independently in the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations. Their shareholders must be Finnish people who can access a Finnish strong identification tool, such as their personal online banking ID or a mobile certificate.

Mandate application as an alternative: When should the mandates be registered via a mandate application?

It is not possible to authorise independently in the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations if any shareholder is another business ID or an estate of deceased person, or of the shareholder of the partnership is under guardianship, a foreigner or a minor.

Such partnerships may register their authorisation with a mandate application at https://www.suomi.fi/e-authorizations/authorisation-with-an-application

Step-by-step instructions for submitting a mandate application are available at: https://www.suomi.fi/e-authorizations/authorisation-with-an-application

Independent authorisation as an alternative: How to authorise independently in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations

If all the partnership's shareholders are Finnish people who can access a Finnish strong identification tool, the authorisation can be easily done in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.

All shareholders in the partnership must grant a mandate, including the person to be authorised if they are a shareholder of the partnership. Please note that all the shareholders of the partnership grant a mandate on behalf of the partnership and not on behalf of themselves.

One of the partnership's shareholders initiates the granting of a mandate

In practice, one shareholder in the partnership will initiate granting the desired mandate (to themselves and/or others) and the other shareholders must confirm the granting of the initiated mandate.

The first shareholder initiates the granting of the mandate as follows:

  1. Identify yourself with a personal online banking ID, certificate card or a mobile certificate at suomi.fi/e-authorizations(Link to another website. Opens in a new tab.)
  2. Select: Company mandates
  3. Select the company (partnership) on behalf of whom you want to grant a mandate
  4. Select: Create mandates
  5. Select the mandate type
Select “Mandate for transaction” if you want the person to be authorised to act on behalf of the partnership in the e-services. You can also select “Right to create a mandate”, i.e., the right to grant mandates for transactions on behalf of the partnership alone in the Suomi.fi e Authorizations service. Please note that the person entitled to create a mandate must grant themselves a mandate for transactions after receiving the right to create a mandate if they intend to use the e-services.
  6. Select the parties
Add a person to be authorised (yourself and/or someone else) You can also grant a mandate for transaction to an accounting agency, for example.
  7. Select the mandate themes
A mandate theme specifies what you can do with a mandate for transaction, among other things. For example, the Tax Administration website provides instructions on which mandates they must have so that you can use their services. The most common one is “Managing of tax affairs” which can be used to manage all the partnership's tax affairs in MyTax. Note that these do not include the personal tax affairs of the shareholders. The mandate theme “Filing tax returns and other reports” can be used to manage the partnership's matters in the Lomake.fi and Ilmoitin.fi services, but not in MyTax.
  8. Period of validity and validation of a mandate
Finally, you should specify the period of validity of the mandate and validate it on your part.
  9. Notify the other shareholders of the validation of the mandate
Other validators do not automatically receive any information about the mandate awaiting validation. The first person to grant the mandate must notify them.

The service will list all the individuals who must validate the mandate in the Suomi.fi service. The mandates that have not been validated in the service are displayed in the left sidebar in the section “To be validated by others”.

The other shareholders must validate the granting of the mandate

After this, it is important that the other shareholders of the partnership validate the granting of the mandate that has been initiated. Other validators do not automatically receive any information about the mandate awaiting validation. The first person to grant the mandate must notify them.

You can validate it in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.

  1. Identify yourself in the Suomi.fi service with a personal online banking ID or a mobile certificate at: suomi.fi/e-authorizations (Link to another website.)
  2. Select: Company mandates
  3. Select: the company (partnership) on behalf of whom you want to grant a mandate
  4. Select: Select To be validated by you / Received mandate requests
  5. Open and accept by validating.

A shareholder who has validated the mandate on their part can view the status of the granting of the mandate by clicking “To be validated together” under the heading “To be validated by others”.
When you click on the name of a mandate theme (e.g., Managing of tax affairs), you can see who has already validated the mandate and who still needs to validate it.

Once all the partnership's shareholders have granted the mandate on their part, it becomes valid and visible immediately in the partnership's Granted mandates section.
