Marriage and partnerships

We serve in matters related to marriage and partnership, register legal documents related to the partnership and update your personal data in the Population Information System.  

Divorce matters are processed in the District Court. More information about divorce can be found on the Suomi.fi web service and on the website of the courts of law.

Before the marriage ceremony, you must request an examination of impediments to marriage. You can book a time for a civil marriage ceremony from the appointment service, by e-mail or by phone.

Finnish citizens have a legal obligation to make sure that their personal data is up to date in the Population Information System.
