Activities of the VAHTI working groups begin – join the working groups or the VAHTI network
The activities of the VAHTI working groups for the new operating period, 1 March 2025 – 31 January 2028, have begun. In addition to the working groups, the new VAHTI network of persons responsible for central government information security has begun operating. VAHTI has also been appointed a new management board. More than 500 experts and directors are already involved in VAHTI. You can join the VAHTI working groups or the VAHTI network at any point during the operating period.
Activities of the VAHTI working groups begin – join the activities
The activities of the VAHTI working groups for the new operating period, 1 March 2025 – 31 January 2028, have begun.
The VAHTI working groups bring together experts in cyber and digital security development from both public administration and business life. In the working groups, experts in the field work together, participate in the drafting of current affairs publications, develop their own competence and promote digital security in their organisations. Representatives of public administration and other actors can participate in the working group activities.
The working groups include:
• development of risk and continuity management, preparedness and readiness (RIA)
• development of cyber and information security (KYTI)
• development of data protection (TIKE)
A new Teams environment has been established to support the activities of the working groups, in which the members of the working groups can discuss current issues. In addition, members ask the Teams group for tips and peer support regarding questions related to cyber and digital security.
VAHTI activities began in the 1990s at the Ministry of Finance. The activities were transferred to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency in 2020.

The VAHTI network of persons responsible for central government information security provides tips and peer support – join the network
The network promotes cooperation between persons and organisations responsible for cyber and information security in central government. The activities are aimed only at central government organisations, which can separately appoint their representatives to the network.
The tasks of the network include sharing the current situational picture and good practices related to information security Members of the network can participate in the activities of the VAHTI working groups in the same way as other members of the working groups.

A new management board has been appointed for VAHTI
A new management board has been appointed to VAHTI for 1 March 2025 – 31 January 2028. Director Mikko Pitkänen was appointed Chairman of the management board, and Director Eero Konttaniemi from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency was appointed Vice Chairman.
The VAHTI management board includes public administration authorities and organisations responsible for developing cyber and digital security and providing key services. The management board includes 40 organisations.
The task of the management board is to coordinate cooperation, share the situational awareness of digital security and develop common operating methods. In addition, the team receives reports from the VAHTI working groups on their activities.
