Together with other authorities, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) has developed the Digital Support - Public officer skills badge. The badge clarifies the difference between digital support provided in service situations and general digital support and helps the authorities in developing digital support.

The authorities are facing more and more situations where customers need support in using digital services. As the authorities transition primarily to digital communications, it is especially important to ensure that each customer receives the support they need to use services and that customer service is efficient also in digital environments. The newly published material helps the authorities identify the importance of digital support in accessing services and offers tools for providing general digital support.

Who is the badge intended for?

The badge is aimed at all authorities that offer digital support or digital services to their customers, such as employees of municipalities, wellbeing services counties and central government. The badge helps you identify the role of a digital support provider and develop your skills to meet changing needs. It allows individual employees of authorities to verify that they master the basics of providing digital support and authorities to monitor the competence of their employees based on the completion of badges.

Why would an authority as an organisation use badges?
•    To monitor the development of the personnel's digital support competence based on the completion of badges.
•    To pay more attention to the provision of digital support promoting its development.
•    Organisations can use the badge free of charge.

Why would an individual public servant complete the badge?
•    To identify your competence and develop your ability to support customers in digital services.
•    To learn about the role of digital support in your work and apply it in practice.
•    To demonstrate your competence concretely, for example to your employer: the badge is an official recognition of your digital support skills.
•    Individual public servants can use the badge free of charge.

The skills badge and related material are available in Finnish, Swedish and English. The material related to the badge is also available in three Sámi languages: Inari Sámi, Skolt Sámi and Northern Sámi.

Badges are an easy and flexible way to develop your competence. Now is the right time to ensure that you are ready to meet the challenges of digitalisation!

You can find more information on badges and their completion on the DVV website.
