Register for the digital identity user community – try and evaluate new services
Join us in developing your digital identity and join the Digital and Population Data Services Agency's user community! As a member of the user community, you can, for example, express your opinion and try and evaluate new digital identity services, such as the Suomi.fi wallet and digital identity card.
What does the user community do?
The aim of the user community is to involve a diverse group of Finns and foreigners who use Finnish services in the development of digital identities. As a member of the community, you can participate in various events, surveys and workshops related to digital identity. By joining the user community, you agree to receive invitations to these events. Participation is not mandatory; you can choose what to participate in.
What is a digital identity?
The Digital and Population Data Services Agency develops digital identity services together with the Police as part of a Ministry of Finance project. This development work will result in a new, secure mobile application (Suomi.fi wallet). With the Suomi.fi wallet the new digital proof of identity can be used, capable of proving your identity on the spot and online in the services of public and private actors.
Foreign nationals, on the other hand, may receive a foreigner's service tool in their wallet. This means that they will be registered in the Population Information System and receive a personal identity code. The foreigner's tool enables identification in electronic services.
A Code display for using the electronic services of public administration will also be created for people who do not use mobile devices. The services to be developed will be part of the Suomi.fi service package.
The introduction of a digital identity card requires amendments to the legislation, and the bill is now being discussed by Parliament. The Act and the services are intended to enter into force on 1 September 2023.
