Notarisation of the authenticity of a signature
You need the services of a notary public when you need the authenticity of your signature officially certified.
Do the following
- You must visit the Digital and Population Data Services Agency personally and sign the document in the presence of a notary public.
- Book an appointment with a public notary through the electronic appointment booking service.
Appointment services - Bring with you the document and your passport or ID card. Please note that a driving licence is not an official identity card.
- A note confirming the authenticity of you signature will be recorded on the document and the notary public will sign the document.
Processing time
If the notary public is available, they will notarise the authenticity of your signature while you wait.
Frequently asked questions
As a rule, you need two persons to certify the authenticity of a signature. However, the notary public at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency is the only option if the recipient of the document requires that the authenticity of the signature must be certified “officially” or by a notary public.
The notarisation of the authenticity of your signature requires that you visit an office of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency in person.
The notary public will not draw up the document. They will only notarise the authenticity of your signature on the completed document.
The notary public will not act as a witness for wills or continuing powers of attorney.
