Communications material on the change
On this page, we will publish support material for public administration organisations, which enables them to communicate on the coming transition to primarily digital official communications to their customers and personnel.
As of 12 May 2025, individual users have been prompted to activate Suomi.fi Messages upon identification in any public administration organisation's electronic service. At this stage, activation is opt-in and can be bypassed. The aim, however, is that as many people as possible begin to receive official communications electronically.
Coming up in the year 2026
When you log in to a web service of an authority for the first time in 2026, after the legislation on the digital priority of official mail has come into force, a digital mailbox will be created for you in Suomi.fi Messages. After this, you will receive mail sent by public authorities primarily in digital form.
