Changes to the possibilities of deleting messages received through Suomi.fi Messages starting 19.8.2025
There are going to be changes in the functionalities of Suomi.fi Messages, which will affect the deletion of sent and received messages. In the future, the service will have a separate folder called “Deleted” where all deleted messages will be moved. You can delete messages from both your Inbox and Sent folders.
The functionality will be taken into use in the Suomi.fi Web Service on August 19, 2025. In the Suomi.fi mobile application, the changes will take effect with a delay of a few days.
Restoring a message
Messages you delete will remain in the Deleted folder for 60 days. After this, they will be permanently removed from the service.
If the deleted message has been replied to later by either you or an authority, the message will not be permanently deleted from the Deleted folder until 60 days have passed since the most recent messages were deleted.
You have 60 days to restore messages you have moved to the Deleted folder and move them back to their original folder. You cannot restore messages that have been permanently deleted.
If you deleted a message that was important to you and it was also deleted from the Deleted folder in Suomi.fi Messages, contact the authority that sent you the message.
Note this if you use Suomi.fi Messages with the mobile application
If you use the Suomi.fi mobile application to read official messages, please note that the application must be updated for the Deleted folder to appear.
If you have not updated the Suomi.fi mobile application after the changes have taken effect (19.8.2025), the new Deleted folder will not appear in your application. However, the messages you delete will be moved to the new Deleted folder and remain there for 60 days. Remember to update the application to access the new Deleted folder!
